Carbon finishes flat, despite pull-back in oil

A welcome pull-back in the oil price after the Chinese announced an end to gasoline subsidies failed to push carbon lower – it finished flat on the day in the front vintages, with longer-dated vintages continuing to be well bid, broker OM Financial reports.

An initial spike in oil pushed carbon prices higher, though trading was light and recent firmer prices have pushed some carbon buyers, such as power generators, to the sidelines waiting for weakness in the carbon price, OM Financial reports.
