ETS: Society wants forestry answers

The Environmental Defence Society has called on the government to clarify exactly what forestry will be permitted on Department of Conservation land as a result of the agreement with the Maori Party on the emissions trading scheme.
"It is one thing to allow permanent native forest sinks to be established on low value DOC land. It is quite another to allow commercial, rotational exotic forestry to be established on high value DOC land," said chairman Gary Taylor.
