Oil industry welcomes prospect of a carbon charge

Government indications that select committee consideration of a carbon charge as an alternative to the Emissions Trading Scheme is strongly welcomed by the petroleum exploration and production industry, according to PEPANZ Executive Officer John Pfahlert.
“A carbon charge is a much easier instrument to deal with and should have lower compliance costs,” he said.
