Low lake levels affect gas emissions

The low water level of most of New Zealand hydro-generation lakes will affect the country’s greenhouse gas emissions.
The State-owned generator Genesis Energy is running five of its six thermal (coal and gas) units at the Huntly power station – the country’s single largest generator of greenhouse gas emissions – to fill the gap left by low hydro-generation.
