Christchurch centre starts probing methane absorbing gas molecules on sea floor

The Centre for Advanced Engineering (CAE) in Christchurch has begun looking at the possibilities of gas hydrates in New Zealand waters.
CAE is the latest organisation to gingerly probe the ocean floor, which is predicted to contain gas hydrates, in particular a gas hydrate province on the Hikurangi margin east of the North Island and a smaller province to the southwest of the Fiordland.
