Huntly power station - four million tonnes of emissions last year
New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions have risen again, with coal the biggest culprit.
The just-released New Zealand Energy Greenhouse Gas Emissions report shows that while emissions from industrial processes fell last year, coal-based emissions were up 37 per cent on 2007, largely due to a dry year in which coal-fired power stations were used to boost hydro-electricity generation.
