Plans to grow the biofuel stock plant jatropha in New Zealand could run into opposition from farmers who fear it could kill their animals and become another “gorse”.
Carbon News knows of at least one farmer who is growing jatropha – the plant used to make the fuel that Air New Zealand used for its inaugural biofuel flight last month - and understands that it is being planted on marginal lands in other areas.
