The Ministry for the Environment is consulting on steps to reduce emissions caused by potent greenhouse gases found in heating and cooling products.
Fluorinated gas refrigerants are found in a range of products such as heat pumps, dehumidifiers, vehicles, fridges and freezers. The potent greenhouse gases have a global warming potential hundreds of thousands of times greater than carbon dioxide and make up about 2% of New Zealand’s total greenhouse emissions.
