Contact puts $75 million price tag on carbon commitment

Contact Energy expects its carbon liability to cost it at least $75 million a year.
The stationary energy sector comes into the emissions trading scheme in 2010. In a speech to yesterday’s annual meeting, chairman Grant King said that while Contact had supported the ETS as an efficient market-based mechanism to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, it would be a significant cost.
