It is only a matter of time before a class action is brought against heavy emitters in New Zealand over damage caused by climate change, says Kensington Swan partner Bryan Gundersen.
With action already under way against power and oil companies in the United States, and Greenpeace serving notice on some of New Zealand’s largest emitters, Gundersen told Carbon News that tort-based litigation offers a fertile ground for climate change litigation.
