Troubled gas supply means jump in coal emissions

THE REPEATED shut-down of the country’s largest gas field for maintenance has led to a surge in greenhouse gas emissions from coal-burning.
The Todd Energy/OMV-owned Pohokura field, which supplies a third of the country’s natural gas, closed unexpectedly in October, leading to record-high prices on the spot electricity market.
