Diet's effects on emissions give food for thought

By TIM RADFORD.- American researchers confirm that a shift to vegetarian, Mediterranean or fish-based diets would cut greenhouse gases, conserve forests and savannah, and have a big impact on obesity-linked health problems.
The worldwide trend toward a Western-style diet rich in meat and dairy produce will lead to an 80 per cent increase in greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture.
