Hydrogen and fuel cells worth a look for home heating

By PAUL DODDS, senior research associate at University College.- The inhabitants of a frequently cold and windy country like the United Kingdom need to heat their homes, even in what is loosely termed “summer”.
This is achieved mostly by natural gas-fed boilers. But this dependence on gas is unsustainable in the long term if the country aims to meet its targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050.
