Prices force rethink of forestry carbon rules

Forest owners exploiting low carbon prices to convert forest land to dairy farms have forced government officials to rethink this country’s net forestry carbon position.
In January, Carbon News reported that record-low carbon prices were making it financially viable for forest owners to clear forests, incur the carbon liability, and convert to dairy.
