Industry angry as Solid Energy acts to drop biodesiel

Solid Energy says it is in negotiations to sell its biodiesel business, but the industry remains angry over the Government’s retreat from the sector.
The Government has scrapped development subsidies for commercial biodiesel production, and last month the State-owned coal company announced that it would sell its loss-making subsidiary, Biodiesel NZ, as part of a strategy to deal with the financial impacts of falling world coal prices.
