Taupo diffuses water time-bomb

New Zealand’s Lake Taupo Water Quality Trading Scheme is being cited by the OECD as an example of how markets can be used to improve the environment.
In a yet-to-be-released report, the OECD warns that New Zealand is sitting on a water quality “time-bomb”, caused mainly by agricultural nutrients, which will go off in 30 or 40 years’ time.
