Iwi join Aussies in carbon forestry venture

Lake Taupo ... new company eyes Central North Island.
Six iwi have joined forces with an Australia carbon forestry company and are looking to mop up land in the Central North Island.
The move puts them in competition with State-owned electricity generator Mighty River Power, which has already done some forward deals for carbon from new forests to be planted on Maori-owned in the area, and is looking for more.
