US climate bill key to Pacific carbon market

A former New Zealand Government official who chaired some of the meetings at the Copenhagen climate change talks says that a move by the United States into a cap-and-trade scheme could lead to a Pacific-wide carbon market.
Bryan Smith, who until recently headed MAF’s policy section on forestry, says that there are huge opportunities for New Zealand in carbon credits from our plantation forests if an international carbon market is developed.
