Tree-planting key to meeting target, says expert

New Zealand can achieve a significant proportion of its 2020 emission reduction target by planting trees – and generate $375m a year in carbon credits, says a forestry expert.
Dr Euan Mason, associate professor of forestry at Canterbury University, says that planting 50,000ha a year on eroding lands would see an extra 15 million tonnes of carbon-equivilent gases sequestered each year.
