Forest owners are still under obligation to surrender emissions units to meet deforestation liabilities – despite Parliament delaying reporting dates.
On Tuesday, Parliament passed the Climate Change Response (Emissions Trading Forestry Sector) Amendment Act. It came into force immediately, and shifts several important reporting and compliance deadlines back a year.
