Media release: Kaicycle | Since 2015, Kaicycle has grown from a humble pilot project growing kai and collecting compost on bicycles into the thriving urban farm and composting hub that Wellingtonians know and love.
On Sunday 16th November, Kaicycle marks a decade of grassroots climate action with an afternoon of celebration at their Kaicycle Urban Farm in Newtown.
Since 2015, Kaicycle has grown from a humble pilot project growing kai and collecting compost on bicycles into the thriving urban farm and composting hub that Wellingtonians know and love. The milestone event will bring together the many hands and hearts that have helped build Kaicycle’s impact – staff, volunteers, donors, funders, and supporters – to reflect on ten years of mahi and community connection.
“What started as an idea to keep food scraps out of landfill has become a city-wide movement for soil health, local kai, and collective climate resilience. This celebration is for everyone who has dug in with us, quite literally, over the past ten years.”
– Martin Donoghue, Board Chair, Kaicycle
