The government wants to bring carbon capture and storage into the Emissions Trading Scheme, with plans to introduce legislation for a Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage framework this year.
Energy and Climate Change Minister Simon Watts said the framework will enable businesses to benefit from storing carbon underground and support New Zealand’s businesses to continue operating while reducing net carbon emissions.
