Forest industry fears carbon deficit blow-out

							Normal levels of forest harvesting could trigger a post-2018 carbon deficit blow-out unless action is taken soon, says an informed industry source.
							
					The source told Carbon News that if harvesting continues at a business-as-usual level, the harvesting of trees planted in the early 1980s will lead to New Zealand incurring a net deficit of 20 million tonnes per year from harvesting emissions.
