Air NZ backs ETS - but wants carbon price cap

Air New Zealand chairman John Palmer can understand the opposition of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to aviation being included in global emissions trading schemes (ETSs), but agrees New Zealand’s should cover as much of the economy as possible.
“Clearly as a business it’s easy to agree with [IATA’s position], but then if you get down to the issue of fundamental policy in an ETS, it’s hard to argue that specific sectors should be excluded,” Palmer told Carbon News yesterday.
