PAYING INDUSTRY not to use electricity during peak demand should be considered as an alternative to a multi-billion-dollar new hydro scheme, an energy expert says.
Yesterday, energy minister Megan Woods announced $30 million of funding to look at the feasibility of developing a pumped hydro system, recommended last year by the Interim Climate Change Committee.
