Our hill-country is easy going for nitrous oxide

NEW ZEALAND'S hill-country farms are releasing much less nitrous oxide than previously thought.
The emissions factors used to calculate the amount of nitrous oxide coming off the farms on steep country have been slashed on the back of new research showing that animal urine and dung gives off much less of the gas when it is deposited on hill country than when it is on flat soils.
