AUCKLAND'S public transport system is finally as popular as it was in the 1950s – albeit with five times the population.
Transport minister Phil Twyford told Parliament yesterday the city had had 102 million “transport journeys” in the past 12 months – the highest number since the city’s tram network was removed in the 1950s.
