Low lake levels lead to jump in emissions

GREENHOUSE GAS emissions jumped in the last part of the year as low lake levels forced the country to burn coal to make electricity.
Data from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment shows emissions from electricity generation were up a third in the September quarter over the same period last year, from 993.05 kilotonnes to 1321.81kt.
