Bamboo can be a lucrative friend, pioneer tells Kiwis

Environmentally friendly bamboo could be a winning crop for New Zealand if people didn’t have such a negative view of it, says an industry pioneer.
Bamboo requires little water to grow and sequesters high levels of carbon, but its reputation as a garden invader is blinding New Zealanders to its potential, NZ Bamboo Society secretary Mark Mortimer told Carbon News.
