ATMOSPHERIC physicist Professor James Renwick is struggling with the idea that the world might really delay action on climate change to the point of disaster.
Renwick, head of Victoria University’s school of geography, environment and earth sciences who has just been named this year’s winner of the $100,000 Prime Minister’s science communication prize, experienced a moment of bleakness late last year when he learnt that global emissions are unlikely to peak until 2030 – a decade too late to keep the climate relatively safe.
