Coastal shipping has been put at a disadvantage, operators say |
NEW ZEALAND
shipping companies say it is unfair they are paying for their greenhouse gas emissions but international companies competing with them on coastal routes are not.International vessels have been allowed to carry domestic cargo between New Zealand ports as part of their international voyage since the removal of cabotage rules in 1994, effectively putting these ships in competition with the domestic fleet.
