Households cut emissions by 11%, says report

THE AVERAGE New Zealand household’s emissions fell 11 per cent between 2006 and 2012, new research shows.

But it’s not because we are consuming less; most of the reduction comes from the fact that the production of some high-emissions goods is creating fewer greenhouse gases, with the largest improvements in the carbon-intensity of milk, cheese, eggs, meat and poultry, air travel and electricity.
