								Practical solutions five years off, integrated into farming in 10 years
							
					New Zealand scientists celebrated a major break through last week on mapping the genetic sequence of a microbe, which produces methane from the rumen of cattle and sheep.
							
					Chairman of the Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium and Fonterra spokesperson Mark Leslie said the completion of the research is a “significant milestone” that will help researchers gain a better understanding of how microorganisms called methanogens work.
