Countdown finds emissions cuts are working

Countdown has cut the emissions-intensity of its supermarkets by 26 per cent.

Switching to energy-efficient refrigeration systems, LED lighting, freezers that reduce cold-air loss, and heat-reclaim technology have helped the chain to hold its emissions at 1.8 per cent above 2006 levels, despite building 25 new supermarkets and increasing retail space by 37 per cent.
