Road taxes will pay for trains under Green government

A Green government would fund rail from road taxes, with an aim of getting half of the country’s total freight off roads by 2027.

It would also spent $860 million electrifying the “golden triangle” rail network between Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga to create a zero-emissions freight service.
