Solar industry fights lines companies' taxes

The solar energy industry is fighting back against taxes being imposed by lines companies on customers installing panels on their homes, by taking a case to the Electricity Authority.

Solar energy systems retailer Solarcity today filed a series of legal complaints with the authority, asking it to stop Hawke’s Bay lines company Unison Energy’s solar tax, on the grounds that it wrongfully disadvantages customers and is in clear breach of the Electricity Industry Participation Code.
