Tuvalu awards contract for solar power plants

Solarcity and Infratec Renewables have been awarded a $780,000 contract to build 170kW of solar photovoltaic arrays across two government-owned buildings in Funafuti, Tuvalu.
The project will deliver 5 per cent of the island’s energy requirements, and will lead to the reduction in 62,000 litres of diesel imports every year, saving the nation more than $2 million across the lifetime of the system.
