California gives nod to timber carbon case

The carbon-storing properties of wood products have been recognised in the new cap-and-trade scheme endorsed by Californian law-makers last week.
The New Zealand timber industry is pushing for new rules under the Kyoto Protocol on climate change to recognise the fact that carbon stored in trees is not released the minute the trees are harvested.
