No European-like second phase windfall profits for NZ generators

European electricity generators are in line for massive windfall profits of around $140 billion over the next four years, but their vastly more environment-friendly New Zealand counterparts can expect no such largesse.
The environmental organisation WWF has expressed outrage at the power sectors of Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland garnering as much as €71b ($NZ140b) from emissions credits issued to them free during the second phase of the European Union’s emissions trading scheme (ETS).
