Green scheme canned by Smith saved $4.7 million

The scrapped Govt3 programme to “green” the public service led to $4.7 million in government savings, Carbon News has learnt.
The scheme was cut in March by Environment Minister Nick Smith as a cost-cutting exercise, but documents released by the Ministry for the Environment to Carbon News under the Official Information Act show that the scheme was saving far more than it cost.
