Islands must pay back climate aid loans

Much of the so-called international aid to the Pacific to allow poorer countries to accommodate climate change has taken the form of loans which will have to be repaid.
The money, especially from EU countries, is administered by the World Bank and is lent in the form of concessionary loans that poor countries will have to pay back with interest.
