Aotearoa New Zealand’s Emissions Trading Scheme is broken and not fit for purpose, says Climate Change Commission chair Dr Rod Carr.
Speaking at the University of Canterbury Business School last week, the former UC vice-chancellor said reforming the ETS to incentivise other carbon sequestration methods, such as wetlands or premiums for native forestry or bringing in a biodiversity credit system, won’t work.
