New waste bill puts pressure on manufacturers

The Waste Minimisation Bill, expected to get royal assent today, has been almost overlooked in the wake of the passing of the emissions trading legislation.
The bill introduces a levy on the disposal of residual waste, and requires extended through-lifecycle responsibility from those who originated it as a product for sale.
