THE FUTURE of the Marsden Point oil refinery, the Glenbrook steel mill and large-scale wood processing all face an uncertain future as New Zealand decarbonises, infrastructure and regional development minister Shane Jones is warning.
Refining New Zealand is reviewing the future of the refinery, and last week Rio Tinto-controlled New Zealand Aluminium Smelters said its Tiwai Point aluminium smelter will close next year because it is no longer viable.
