MUCH OF New Zealand’s $20 billion worth of stormwater and wastewater systems will not cope with the impacts of climate change, an expert is warning.
Sea-level rise and increased storms, extreme rainfall and drought all put the systems at risk, the report says, citing as an example a flood in Edgecumbe earlier this year in which raw sewage ran in the streets.
