BLOOM GLOOM: Climate causing plankton problem

LARGE WHITE plankton blooms growing east of New Zealand are further evident that the ocean is being affected by climate change, scientists say.
Coccolith blooms, which turn the ocean milky-white, were common 130,000 years ago during the last major warm period, says Professor Lionel Carter of Victoria University’s Antarctic Research Centre.
