Give cities their own planning rules, says commissioner

New Zealand might need special planning rules for cities to help them to cope with climate change, says Parliamentary Commission for the Environment Dr Jan Wright.

In a submission on proposed changes to the Resource Management Act to make it easier for housing developments in Auckland to get approval, Wright says that the RMA has become “a whipping boy” for anything that’s wrong with local body processes.
