Fiji to move villages out of climate danger zones

More than 40 communities might have to be relocated in the next five to 10 years to avoid climate change damage, says Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
Bainimarama, speaking at the launch of the Vunidogoloa village relocation project, said that communities faced the loss of coastal land and infrastructure due to erosion or flooding and the threat of storm surges.
