Government disputes $80b 'carbon tax' windfall claim

The Government is disputing a suggestion by Solid Energy chief Don Elder that it could stand to make $80 billion from New Zealand’s emissions trading scheme.
Yesterday Elder told Parliament’s finance and expenditure select committee that the government could net quite a windfall from carbon charges - effectively a tax.
