Ratepayers foot the bill, say local authorities

Ratepayers are being left to pick up the cost of environmental monitoring that should be paid for by the Government, says Local Government New Zealand.
In a submission on proposed changes to the Resource Management Act, the association bridles at suggestions that local government should foot the bill for increased monitoring, and points the finger at the Government for cuts to its own monitoring programme.
